T+A has announced the availability of a second-generation MP 3000 HV media player. Known as the MP 3000 HV Mk II, it offers a multi-source media player including a CD player with a two-stage mechanical isolation system. In addition, it offers separate power supplies for the digital and analog systems. The MK II will be offered in silver or titanium.
The CD player is placed in a robust encapsulated housing which acts as a mass damper. Then the drive unit is isolated from the housing by a 3-point bearing which is resonance optimized. Outputs include both single-ended RCA and balanced XLR for connection to a separate amplifier. There is also a single coaxial digital feed for an outboard DAC, but the Mk II sports a quad set of 32-bit DAC chips onboard to take care of all the digital inputs. There are a lot of inputs including USB, PCMI, coaxial, AES/EBU, two BNC, two optical TOSLINK, and Bluetooth. If that isn’t enough, there is also a DAB/DAB+ radio and an FM tuner if you still like to listen to over-the-air.
The news gets even better for current MP 3000 HV owners because they can purchase an upgrade kit that brings it to MK II standards. This includes the conversion to the new T+A streaming client that includes Deezer, Tidal, Qobuz, and Airable Internet Radio. It also includes an FM/DAB+ tuner and Bluetooth.
