Focal Clear Headphones

Focal has been on a 35-year voyage to create headphones that sound as good as their premium floor-standing speakers. This led to the development of the Elear and Utopia models, and now Focal has announced their latest addition called Clear. Here is why Focal Clear headphones may be just what you have been waiting for.

The earlier models incorporated an open-back design and full-range electrodynamic transducers. The Clear line takes that to the next level with a new full-range driver, memory foam ear cushions wrapped in perforated microfiber, gray leather-wrapped solid aluminum yoke, and an improved open-back circum-aural design. What does this all mean?

A circum-aural open-back design is key in providing access to outside sounds around the listener. Perforations in the back and an over-ear fit prevent your ears from being trapped inside the headphones which can result in stifled sound. The Clear headphones provide an expansive sound reproduction and a fit that will make you forget you are wearing them. The one downside is that other people around you will be able to hear what you hear, so they may not be the ideal choice for travel or in crowded rooms. But you will not find anything better for listening in the privacy of your home.

The 35 years of Focal research has made them experts in creating pure sound, and the Clear headphones are no exception. Focal uses an M-shaped dome speaker using a magnesium-aluminum alloy with a copper voice coil also used in the Elear and Utopia models. The result is a superb full-range listening experience.

Some specification of the Clear headphones include:

Impedance 55 ohms

  • THD 0.25% at 1kHz / 100dB SPL
  • Sensitivity 104dB / 1mW at 1kHz
  • Frequency response 5-28k Hz
  • Weight 0.99 lbs.
